Emberfall Saga
Emberfall Saga is a turn-based RPG where you build a party of four and work through a story about a kingdom slowly going dark. What pulled us in was the turn order bar at the top of the screen — you can see exactly who acts next, so every fight becomes a small puzzle instead of button-mashing.
The writing is better than it needs to be. Characters bicker, change their minds, and occasionally refuse to do the obvious thing. Combat rewards patience: stacking a stun into a big hit feels great, and the harder bosses genuinely punish a sloppy setup.
Progression is generous. You unlock new abilities at a steady clip, and respeccing is cheap enough that experimenting never feels risky. The only rough edge is a slow opening hour before the systems open up.
What we liked
- Visible turn order makes combat tactical
- Strong character writing
- Cheap respecs encourage experimenting
